How does one becomes a habitual borrower?įor salaried workers, all it takes is a budget overrun for a particular month. It’s very easy to throw money around when you’re “single” and or have no dependants. People who have responsibilities early in life, whether self-acquired or bequeathed (handed down to), often come out of these habits quicker. The underlying motivator for these kind of life is mainly due to lack of sense of responsibility. These things, when allowed to go on long enough, have the potency of altering the person’s way of life forever as it becomes a habit. The topmost amongst these reasons are social media influence and youthful exuberance behaviors such as spending on gadgets, fashion, outing, gambling, opposite sex, drinks etc. Yes, it’s a cancer because it is one habit that, when developed, stays within one’s system and continues to eat deep into every fiber of one’s being. Generally, the youth are more prone or susceptible to this cancerous phenomenon than the aged for several reasons. However, the strategies that I’ll be outlining later can also be used by all and sundry with little adjustment. How does one really get to this position?įor the purposes of this article, I’d like to narrow it down to the youth, especially the guys. These two actions creates debt for the individual that needs to be repaid in due course. Another can borrow money from someone or somewhere to spend with the intention of paying back later. One can buy on credit with a promise of paying later. These two words sounds familiar but there is a difference. Thus, either spending on credit or borrowing to spend. There are two ways by which, someone can live beyond his or her means (income). Well, the answer to this can’t be far-fetched since almost everybody has done it before. One would ask how possible is it for someone to spend more than they have at a point in time or continually. Thus, towing this line of life, creates a deficit (negative balance) in one’s budget which needs to be serviced (paid for by some other means). These lifestyles however comes at a cost that are usually higher than we can afford. With the influence of forces of life by the ever dynamic social trends, one can easily lose his or her way to unnecessary and irresponsible lifestyles. Setting aside sexual discipline, financial discipline would qualify as the hardest thing to achieve in this era of civilization among both young and old, especially the male gender.
